Onsite Water Treatment for Contaminated Storage Tanks
The Challenge
The client required efficient treatment of onsite water storage tanks to meet discharge criteria in line with ANZECC Guidelines. The project faced logistical challenges, including restricted site access, the need for specialized equipment, and coordinating external testing hold points. Additionally, the operational weight of the water treatment plant (WTP) necessitated careful planning to ensure the carpark slab could bear the load, and chemical usage had to be minimized due to the low volume of water treated.
Levels of contaminants exceed ANZECC guidelines for Aluminum & inorganics.
The Solution
Aquatic Engineering utilized Shore Hire's MB7 and associated pumping equipment complimented with our Trident T2R Clarifier for pH & Turbidity control and monitoring, into the Kraken M5 a 20ft containerized media filter, designed for rapid deployment and efficient treatment. The system was delivered and installed via Shore Hire Hiab truck for placement. The contaminated water was re-cycled though the temp plant, hold point verification was completed with NATA lab testing confirming compliance to ANZECC Guidelines. Treatment commenced at a flow rate of 2L/s, achieving discharge targets. Waste, including spent media, was disposed of safely offsite. The streamlined process ensured treatment and discharge were completed within the 8-day timeline
